ในช่วงเดือนธันวาคม ผมวางแผนไว้ว่าจะหาเพลงเกี่ยวกับคริสตมาสมาแนะนำเป็นช่วง ๆ เท่าที่ Source ซีดีของผมจะมี วันนี้เริ่มจากเพลง Little Drummer Boy ในเวอร์ชันของ Jars of Clay เป็นเพลงแรกเลยล่ะกัน

เพลงนี้จริง ๆ แล้วได้มาโดยความบังเอิญ โดยที่ตอนนั้นยังไม่รู้จัก Jars of Clay เลยด้วยซ้ำไป มันเป็นช่วงปี 2000 ที่ผมไม่ค่อยรู้จักศิลปินคริสเตียนเท่าไหร่ และก็เป็นช่วงคริสตมาสที่ผมอยากจะหาเพลงคริสตมาสดี ๆ ฟัง (ตอนนั้นไม่ยักไปมองหาซีดีแถว ๆ โบสถ์) ผมก็เลยไปลองเดินหาตามร้านซีดีเพลงสากลทั่ว ๆ ไป และก็เจอซีดีรวมเพลงคริสตมาส มีศิลปินที่เรารู้จัก เช่น Britney Spears, *NSYNC , Backstreet Boys และอื่น ๆ ดูแล้วก็คิดว่าน่าจะใช้ได้ มันอยู่ในชุด Platinum Christmas (2000) เลยซื้อมาฟังดู ฟังแล้วก็โอเคเลย เพราะดี ถึงตอนนี้จะผ่านมา 6 ปีได้แล้ว ก็ยังฟังได้ ไม่ล้าสมัย ถึงแม้มันอาจจะไม่ใช่คริสตมาสแบบแท้ ๆ ก็ตาม (ในบางเพลง) แต่เรื่องดนตรี อารมณ์ บรรยากาศ ใช่เลย คริสตมาส มันต้องเป็นแบบนี้แหล่ะ ถ้าฟังในอุณภูมิที่เย็น ๆ หน่อยจะดีมาก ๆ

พอเราฟังถึง Track "Little Drummer Boy" ก็รู้สึกถึงความโดดเด่นของเพลง มันเป็นงาน Cover ที่ยอดเยี่ยม ทันสมัย จนถึงตอนนี้ก็ยังดูดี ยังไม่เคยฟังเวอร์ชันไหนที่ดีเท่านี้เลย

พูดถึงเพลงนี้ แต่งเมื่อปี 1958 (เนื้อร้องและดนตรีโดย  Katherine K. Davis, Henry Onorati และ Harry Simeone) โดยที่เนื้อหาจะพูดถึง เด็กน้อยจน ๆ คนหนึ่ง ที่ไม่สามารถจะหาของขวัญสำหรับวันประสูติของพระเยซูได้ นอกเสียจากการตีกลอง เพื่อเฉลิมฉลองให้กับพระกุมารเยซู

ผมว่ามันเป็นอารมณ์น่ารัก ๆ ของเด็กคนหนึ่ง ที่ถึงแม้จะไม่ได้ร่ำรวยอะไร แต่ก็ใช้สิ่งที่ตัวเองมี เพื่อถวายเกียรติแด่พระเยซู ผมคงต้องกลับมามองดูสิ่งเล็กน้อยที่ผมมีอยู่ว่ามีอะไร ที่เราสามารถทำได้เพื่อพระเจ้า และใช้มันอย่างเต็มที่มากขึ้นครับ

เพลง Flood ของ Jars of Clay นอกจากจะเป็นเพลงเปิดตัวสำหรับอัลบัมแรกของ Jars แล้ว ยังเป็นเพลงที่สามารถบอกได้ว่าดังที่สุดของ Jars เลยก็ว่าได้ เพลงนี้มี MV 2 เวอร์ชัน แบบที่ไว้ฉายทาง MTV สามารถดูได้ที่ www.jarsofclay.com อยากให้ลองไปดูกัน จะเข้าใจอารมณ์ของเพลงนี้มากยิ่งขึ้น เพลงนี้เป็นเพลงที่ผมชอบมากเพลงหนึ่ง

ใครที่อยู่ในอารมณ์ที่เหมือนกำลังลอยคออยู่ในน้ำแล้วยังมองไม่เห็นฝั่ง ต้องลองฟังดูครับ

ท่อนที่ชอบมากก็คงนี้ไม่พ้นท่อน Chorus ที่ทำให้นึกถึงภาพน้ำท่วมของโนอาห์ บางทีปัญหาของเราก็คล้าย ๆ แบบนั้น คงเป็นไปไม่ได้ที่ใครจะสามารถลอยคออยู่ได้ตั้ง 40 วัน ถ้าพระเจ้าไม่เข้ามาช่วยยกเราขึ้น เราคงลอยคออยู่ไม่ได้แน่
